Before I spread any glue on the strips, I always whisk them off with a clean toothbrush. This removes any debris that might cause a gap in the glue joint. And remember, you donât plane against the grain for fear of lifting bamboo so donât brush up grain either. Always brush from butt to tip.
After the glue is mixed, applying it is a simple matter. Dip the toothbrush in the glue and spread it onto the strips. The first coat may be a little uneven. However, by applying a second coat of glue, and then making a third pass with the toothbrush but no additional glue, youâll level the applications. I allow the glue to penetrate the strips for 15 minutes before I go any further.
